About Ms. Walker

I live in Talking Rock, Georgia. I have two sons, Wesley and Matthew…….oh and my dog Smytie. Smytie is a miniature Schnauzer. I began working for the school system in 1997 as a Kindergarten paraprofessional. I completed several sign language classes and shortly became an interpreter for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I graduated from Reinhardt College in Early Education in 2002.  The first six years of my teaching career I worked as a teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I completed my Masters in December of 2008 from Piedmont College out of Demorest Ga. This year I am working on my specialist degree. This is my second year as a first grade teacher and I absolutely love it! I love biking, running, weight training, gardening, and teaching and am a Georgia Bulldogs fan! I believe in giving every student a chance to learn as much as possible. All students are not going to arrive at the same destination at the same time. Each child may take a different path, but I feel that it is up to me to help them find that path and reach their goals in education. We are all artists and authors inside….. it is how we use the colors and the words on the pages that expresses who we are.
